Dalai Lama Thanks Well-Wishers for Birthday Greetings, Reaffirms Mission of Compassion
Leh, Ladakh: His Holiness the Dalai Lama has expressed heartfelt gratitude to people around the world for the warm wishes and greetings he received on the occasion of his 91st birthday.
In a message of thanks, the Tibetan spiritual leader reflected on his life's journey, saying that when he looks back, he sees that the core of his spiritual practice has always been to benefit others. Speaking to those gathered in Leh, Ladakh, on July 6, he said that an altruistic motivation continues to guide him every day.
The Dalai Lama emphasized that spreading compassion, kindness, and warm-heartedness remains the primary mission of his life. He said such values are essential for creating a more peaceful and harmonious world, urging people of all ages to cultivate genuine concern for the well-being of others.
"I call on my brothers and sisters everywhere, both young and old, to practice warm-heartedness and compassion, with genuine concern for the well-being of others," he said, adding that living a life of service and compassion is what gives life true meaning and purpose.
Sharing an update on his health, the Dalai Lama said he is recovering well in Ladakh after undergoing a successful medical procedure on his left knee in New Delhi last month. He noted that, as in previous years, Ladakh's climate at this time of year is well suited to his health, and he plans to remain there for the next several weeks.
Concluding his message, the Dalai Lama once again thanked everyone for their birthday greetings and extended his prayers and best wishes to people across the world.
