Anurag Thakur Joins Protest Against HRTC Bus Service Cuts Near Bhota
Former Union Minister and Hamirpur Member of Parliament, Anurag Singh Thakur, participated in a protest demonstration organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party at Patera Chowk near Bhota against the continuous reduction of bus services by the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC).
The protest witnessed the participation of Barsar MLA Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, BJP District President Rakesh Thakur, and a large number of local residents who expressed their concern over the shrinking public transport facilities in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Anurag Thakur criticized the state government's handling of public transport services and said that the repeated curtailment of HRTC routes has caused significant inconvenience to students, employees, senior citizens, and daily commuters. He emphasized that reliable public transport is a lifeline for rural and semi-urban areas and urged the government to immediately restore the withdrawn services.
The BJP leaders alleged that the reduction in bus services has adversely affected connectivity in several villages and demanded prompt action to ensure adequate transportation facilities for the public. The protesters warned that if their concerns remain unaddressed, the agitation could be intensified in the coming days.
Local residents also voiced their grievances, highlighting the difficulties faced due to fewer bus services and calling for the restoration of regular HRTC operations across the affected routes.
