Updated on Tuesday, June 09, 2026 07:00 AM IST

Member of Parliament from Hamirpur and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur has described the completion of 12 years of the Central Government under the leadership of Narendra Modi as a golden period of development, good governance, and public welfare. He said that during the past decade, India has achieved remarkable progress on economic, social, and global fronts. He also stated that the Modi Government has effectively curbed black marketing, malpractice, and corruption over the last 12 years.

Speaking to the media, Anurag Thakur said that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, a transparent and accountable governance system has been established across the country. Black marketing, corruption, and the culture of middlemen have been significantly reduced, ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach deserving beneficiaries directly.

He noted that over the past 12 years, the government has worked extensively for the welfare of farmers while simultaneously strengthening national security. The armed forces have been modernized through the provision of bulletproof jackets, advanced weaponry, and improved defence infrastructure.

Thakur said that India today is recognized globally as a strong and decisive nation. The country's borders are more secure than ever, and the armed forces have been empowered with modern resources and technology. Alongside this, India’s economy has witnessed significant growth. He claimed that nearly 950 million people in the country are directly or indirectly benefiting from various government welfare schemes. Through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), financial assistance is being transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts without any scope for corruption.

The MP further stated that the Central Government’s welfare initiatives have helped more than 250 million people move out of poverty. Numerous schemes aimed at uplifting farmers, women, youth, and economically weaker sections have been implemented, ensuring benefits reach even the last person in society.

He highlighted that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, millions of families have received permanent homes, while the Jan Dhan Yojana has brought millions into the formal banking system. Through the Ayushman Bharat scheme, healthcare security is being provided to needy families, and the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi has emerged as a crucial source of financial support for farmers.

Anurag Thakur emphasized that the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism has ensured government assistance reaches beneficiaries directly, significantly reducing leakages and corruption. He reiterated that nearly 950 million people are benefiting from government schemes in one form or another.

He said that the 12-year tenure of the Modi Government has been guided by the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.” According to him, India is rapidly progressing toward the goal of a developed nation by 2047 and is poised to emerge even more strongly as one of the world’s leading powers in the years ahead.
