Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur launched a sharp attack on the West Bengal government over the law and order situation while addressing a massive election rally in Islampur. He alleged that the state is currently going through one of its worst phases of insecurity, where women, children, traders, political workers, and even the judiciary are not safe.
Addressing the gathering, Thakur said that the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections are not just about a change in government but are a fight to protect “Bengali pride, culture, and the very existence of Bengal.” He emphasized that the people of the state must choose a government that ensures safety, transparency, and development.
Highlighting the potential of the state, Thakur stated that if Bengal gets two decades of good governance, it can become one of the most developed states in India. He asserted that only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can provide such governance, citing the development initiatives undertaken by the central government.
During his visit, Thakur participated in a grand public rally, roadshow, and nomination events in Islampur constituency of South Dinajpur district. He extended his support to BJP candidates Chitrijit Ray from Islampur, Shankar Adhikari from Chopra, and Manoj Jain from Chakolia assembly constituencies. He urged voters to support the BJP candidates and expressed confidence that the people of Bengal are ready for a decisive change.
Political observers believe that the election atmosphere in West Bengal is intensifying, with major parties ramping up their campaigns. Strong statements and aggressive campaigning are expected to dominate the political landscape in the coming days.
