Subject: Request to implement a transparent and autonomous shrine management system in Himachal Pradesh temples on the lines of Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
Respected Sir,
I respectfully wish to draw your kind attention to the prevailing condition of major temples in Himachal Pradesh. Several prominent shrines such as Mata Chintpurni Temple, Jwalamukhi Temple, Chamunda Devi Temple, and Baijnath Shiva Temple receive offerings worth crores of rupees every year. However, despite such significant revenue, devotees continue to face difficulties due to the lack of basic facilities.
For nearly three decades, these temples have been under government management, yet the desired level of development and improvement has not been achieved. Even today, there is a noticeable lack of essential amenities such as proper parking, clean drinking water, medical facilities, and adequate accommodation for pilgrims. There have also been concerns regarding mismanagement and instances of exploitation of devotees at certain places.
Sir, successful models such as the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board have demonstrated how a professional, transparent, and autonomous system can significantly enhance both infrastructure and the overall pilgrimage experience.
In this regard, I humbly request your good office to kindly consider initiating the formation of an independent and transparent Shrine Board for major temples in Himachal Pradesh, on the lines of the Vaishno Devi model. Such a step would ensure better utilization of temple funds, improved facilities for devotees, and enhanced accountability in temple administration.
Your intervention in this matter will go a long way in strengthening public trust and preserving the sanctity and reputation of these revered religious institutions.
I sincerely hope for your kind consideration and appropriate action.
Thanking you.
Yours sincerely,
Bijender Sharma
