In a spirited endorsement, Himachal Pradesh BJP state president Dr. Rajeev Bindal on Sunday hailed the Union Budget 2026 as a landmark blueprint that not only propels Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of a developed India but also infuses renewed vigor into the state's growth trajectory.
Joined by Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur, Bindal tuned into the live broadcast of the budget presentation at the party's state headquarters, Deepkamal in Shimla's Chakkar area. Surrounded by enthusiastic office-bearers and workers, the event buzzed with optimism as the fiscal plan unfolded.
Dismissing it as anything less than transformative, Bindal emphasized, "This isn't just a ledger of numbers—it's a visionary guide charting India's path ahead, zeroing in on smart investments, job creation, equitable progress, and robust social safeguards."
Under Modi's stewardship, he pointed out, India is clocking an impressive near-7% growth rate amid rock-solid macroeconomic foundations. "Self-reliance, or Atmanirbhar Bharat, has evolved from slogan to the heartbeat of our economy," Bindal declared.
For Himachal Pradesh, the windfall is tangible: a hefty Rs 13,949.9 crore slice of central taxes to supercharge development projects, welfare programs, education, healthcare, and cutting-edge infrastructure.
Bindal spotlighted the budget's nod to mountainous regions, announcing Eco-Friendly Mountain Corridors tailored for Himachal, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir. "These initiatives will turbocharge tourism, seamless connectivity, and local job markets," he enthused.
Delving into sector-specific boosters, he spotlighted game-changers like the Medical Tourism Hub, bolstered AYUSH ecosystem, a Rs 10,000-crore Bio Pharma Shakti Project, streamlined MSME financing via TREDS, and a staggering Rs 12.2 lakh crore in capital outlay. "These moves unlock doors in tourism, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, and youth empowerment—tailor-made for our state's potential," Bindal added.
Wrapping up on a high note, he proclaimed, "This budget marks a pivotal stride toward a self-sufficient India, a thriving Himachal, and a flourishing nation for generations to come."
Sitharaman's Tax Tweaks: Streamlining for a Made-in-India Edge
Echoing the budget's pro-growth ethos, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled targeted indirect tax reforms in the 2026-27 Union Budget, designed to streamline tariffs, champion local manufacturing, sharpen export prowess, and iron out duty distortions.
At its core lies a drive to prune outdated customs duty exemptions—slashing those on India-made goods or items with minimal imports—to foster a level playing field and amplify domestic innovation. These measures promise to fortify the 'Make in India' momentum, paving the way for a more agile and competitive economy.
