Referring to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Governor said the message of ‘Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi’ underlines the importance of pursuing development while safeguarding India’s rich heritage and natural environment. He also referred to initiatives such as Mission LiFE and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, saying environmental conservation must become a collective responsibility and part of everyday life.

Announcing the university’s academic roadmap, Prof. Bansal said CUHP would organize a National Science Congress in January 2027 to mark its Foundation Day, followed by an International Science Congress in April 2027. The events will provide a platform for scientists and researchers from India and abroad to exchange ideas and promote scientific collaboration.

Thakur described the agreement as an example of cooperative federalism, stating that the Central Government had worked towards addressing the concerns of all participating states through dialogue and consensus.

The programme was attended by Dr. Nishant Verma, Principal Investigator, AICRP on Goat Improvement; Dr. Rakesh Thakur; Dr. Rohit Kumar; and Dr. Praveen Sharma, along with project staff and other University officials. Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of fodder tree plantation in ensuring a sustainable supply of quality feed for livestock, particularly in view of changing climatic conditions. They emphasized that fodder-based interventions can simultaneously contribute to livestock productivity, environmental conservation and biodiversity enhancement.

He praised his daughter as an intellectually accomplished scholar, an inspiring guide, an efficient administrator and a teacher with a strong sense of responsibility. He expressed hope that the affection, expectations and prayers of her students and well-wishers would continue to bring positive outcomes in the years ahead.

He added that under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana alone, 294 rural road projects worth ₹2,247 crore have been approved for Himachal Pradesh during 2025–26, including a Central share of nearly ₹2,019 crore.

Just last month, in May 2026, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) presented him with the *Agricola Medal* for strengthening food security, transforming agriculture and promoting sustainable farming.

Addressing the gathering, Thakur said that natural farming is not merely a method of cultivation but a comprehensive movement aimed at restoring harmony between nature, the environment, and human health. He emphasized that sustainable agricultural practices are essential for ensuring long-term soil fertility, reducing dependency on chemical inputs, and providing healthier food to consumers.

Dr. Sood reiterated the State Government's commitment to building a greener and environmentally sustainable Himachal Pradesh. He said that the Rajiv Gandhi Green Adoption Scheme would serve as a significant milestone in environmental conservation through active public participation and collaboration with various institutions. The initiative is expected to enhance forest cover, restore degraded ecosystems, and promote environmental awareness among citizens.
