Administration Must Ensure Best Possible Medical Treatment for Injured and Strengthen Safety Measures for Devotees: BJP

Shimla, August 25: Former BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, BJP Himachal Pradesh President Dr. Rajeev Bindal, and Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident near the famous Peer Nigah religious shrine in Una district, in which a large number of devotees were injured.

The BJP leaders said that the accident involving devotees who had travelled from Haryana to pay obeisance at Peer Nigah was deeply distressing. They prayed for the speedy recovery of all those injured and expressed solidarity with the devotees and their families during this difficult time.

According to available information, a goods vehicle carrying devotees lost control on a downhill stretch around two kilometres from the Peer Nigah temple and fell into a roadside gorge. Around 50 devotees, including women, men and children, were reported injured and were taken to the Regional Hospital, Una, for treatment.

Nadda, Bindal and Thakur urged the district administration and Health Department to ensure the best possible medical treatment for every injured devotee. They said that those requiring specialised treatment should be referred to higher medical institutions without delay and that no effort should be spared in providing them necessary assistance.

The BJP leaders also appreciated the prompt assistance extended by local residents, passers-by, other devotees, ambulance personnel and rescue teams following the accident.

They said that the safety of pilgrims visiting religious destinations must remain a top priority. Reports of accidents involving devotees travelling in goods vehicles on the Peer Nigah route have surfaced earlier as well. The administration must therefore take the matter seriously, strictly enforce road-safety and transportation regulations, and put effective preventive measures in place to avoid such tragedies in the future.

“We pray to the Almighty for the speedy recovery of all the injured devotees. The administration must extend every possible medical and humanitarian assistance to the injured and their families,” the BJP leaders said.
