Himachal Is Being Run by a Corrupt Government, Even Congress Leaders Are Making Serious Allegations Against Their Own Government: Sanjay Tandon

Dharamshala: BJP Himachal Pradesh Co-Incharge Shri Sanjay Tandon attended the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Prashikshan Maha Abhiyan for the Palampur, Jalandhar and Dharamshala organisational districts as the Chief Guest. BJP State Vice President and former Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Shri Vipin Singh Parmar was present as the Guest of Honour.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sanjay Tandon said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has provided unprecedented support for the development of Himachal Pradesh, particularly the Kangra region. He stated that the Union Government has consistently partnered with the State in strengthening healthcare, road connectivity, education and infrastructure, but the present Congress government has failed to make effective use of the assistance provided by the Centre.

He said that landmark projects such as AIIMS Bilaspur, the Medical Devices Park, the Hydro Engineering College, and the expansion of the National Highway network reflect the Centre's commitment to the development of Himachal Pradesh. He further noted that the Union Government has recently extended ₹3,920 crore in central assistance to the State. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), 294 road projects with an estimated cost of ₹2,247 crore, including a Central share of approximately ₹2,019 crore, have also been approved for Himachal Pradesh.

Shri Tandon further said that whenever Himachal Pradesh has faced natural disasters, the Narendra Modi Government has stood firmly with the people of the State. He highlighted that the Centre announced a ₹1,500 crore special assistance package for relief and rehabilitation, along with additional support for national highways, rural housing and disaster recovery.

Criticising the State Government, Shri Tandon alleged that despite receiving substantial assistance from the Centre, the Congress government has failed to utilise these funds effectively, resulting in stalled development and poor governance.

He also launched a sharp attack on the Congress government over corruption, stating that Himachal Pradesh is today being run by a "suitcase government." He said that even leaders from within the Congress have publicly alleged that the government collects "five suitcases every month" and sends them to its leadership in Delhi. He remarked that when such allegations are being made by Congress leaders themselves, the people of the State can judge the level of corruption prevailing in the government.

Shri Tandon emphasised that the Bharatiya Janata Party is a cadre-based organisation inspired by the philosophy of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and committed to the principle of Antyodaya—the welfare of the last person in society. He said that the training programme aims to strengthen the ideological foundation, organisational capabilities and public service commitment of party workers.

Several senior BJP leaders, public representatives and party workers were present on the occasion.
