Government Focused on Taking Development to the Last Mile Beyond Political Considerations
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's two-day visit to Bada Bhangal, one of the most remote regions of Kangra district, has once again underlined the state government's commitment to the balanced development of remote and tribal areas. More than a ceremonial tour, the Chief Minister interacted directly with local residents, listened to their grievances, and issued on-the-spot directions to officials for their prompt redressal.
Addressing the people, the Chief Minister said his purpose was not politics but to share in the joys and hardships of the people. He emphasized that the government's development agenda is guided not by population size or political significance, but by the genuine needs of citizens. In line with this vision, the state government remains committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach even the last person living in the state's remotest corners.
The visit generated a sense of optimism among local residents. Kamalo Devi, a resident of Bada Bhangal, said the Chief Minister's visit had raised hopes for improved infrastructure and better public services in the area. Rishu Ram remarked that Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is the first Chief Minister to spend a night in Bada Bhangal, giving people confidence that their long-pending issues will now receive priority. Santosh Kumari added that the Chief Minister listened patiently to their concerns and immediately instructed officials to take necessary action.
Chief Minister Sukhu has previously visited several other remote regions of Himachal Pradesh, including Dodra-Kwar, Kupvi, Baga Sarahan, and Sarchi, where he also stayed overnight to understand local challenges firsthand and accelerate developmental initiatives. According to officials, he is the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh to undertake overnight stays in several of the state's most inaccessible areas, including Bada Bhangal.
Since assuming office, the Congress government has accorded renewed priority to the development of tribal and remote regions. Reflecting this approach, the first State-Level Himachal Day after the formation of the government was celebrated at Kaza in Spiti, while the 2025 State-Level Himachal Day was organized in Pangi, one of the country's most inaccessible regions. These decisions conveyed the government's message that every region of Himachal Pradesh deserves equal opportunities for development and recognition.
The Chief Minister's repeated visits to remote areas indicate the government's determination to strengthen administrative outreach, improve infrastructure, and ensure that welfare and development schemes reach every village and every citizen. His Bada Bhangal visit stands as another significant example of the government's commitment to inclusive governance and people-centric development.
