Modi Government Left No Stone Unturned for Himachal’s Development, Congress Failed to Convert Opportunities into Achievements: J.P. Nadda
Shimla, June 12, 2026: Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Jagat Prakash Nadda, on Friday said that the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided unprecedented support for the development of Himachal Pradesh, but the state’s Congress government has failed to translate these opportunities into tangible results for the people.
Addressing a press conference in Shimla, Nadda highlighted the achievements of the Modi government over the past 12 years and detailed the financial and developmental assistance extended to Himachal Pradesh. He said the people of the state have repeatedly expressed their faith in the BJP’s model of development and good governance, as reflected in the party’s success in recent elections.
Nadda stated that the Centre has stood firmly with Himachal Pradesh, particularly during times of crisis. For the financial year 2024-25, the state received ₹2,381 crore under special assistance schemes, ₹2,006 crore through the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), and ₹2,150 crore for externally aided projects.
Highlighting infrastructure development, he said national highway projects worth over ₹40,000 crore are currently underway in the state. The railway sector has received a record allocation of ₹2,911 crore, while four major rail projects worth ₹13,168 crore are progressing. He also cited initiatives such as the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Vande Bharat trains, IIM Sirmaur, IIIT Una, Smart City projects, the Renuka Ji Dam, and the Luhri Hydroelectric Project as examples of the Centre’s commitment to Himachal Pradesh.
In the health sector, Nadda noted that significant investments have been made in AIIMS Bilaspur, medical colleges, PGI satellite centres, and IGMC Shimla. However, he criticized the state government for poor implementation of centrally funded schemes. According to him, only one of the 15 sanctioned critical care blocks under PM-ABHIM has been completed, while most public health infrastructure projects remain unfinished.
The Union Minister also accused the Congress government of delaying key industrial projects. He said the Bulk Drug Park project, approved by the Centre in 2022, suffered nearly three years of delay in obtaining environmental clearance, resulting in lost investment and employment opportunities. Similarly, the state government’s withdrawal from the Medical Device Park project forced the return of ₹30 crore released by the Centre.
Nadda further alleged that administrative inefficiency, rising debt, and lack of accountability have weakened governance in the state. He concluded by saying that while the Centre remains committed to Himachal’s progress, the people now expect accountability, development, and measurable results from the state government.
