Guwahati, April 5 Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched a sharp attack on the BJP during a press conference held at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati, asserting that the party will not succeed in its political agenda in Assam this time.
The Chief Minister accused the BJP-led Assam government of taking decisions that harm the state’s resources. He specifically questioned the agreement signed with Adani Power for 6000 MW electricity generation, stating that the deal is not in the interest of the people.
Sukhu highlighted that the Power Purchase Agreement has been signed at ₹6.30 per unit, whereas solar energy projects are providing electricity at much lower rates between ₹2.50 and ₹3 per unit. He alleged possible irregularities in the deal and demanded a thorough investigation.
Referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement, Sukhu said that if a Congress government is formed in Assam, all such agreements will be investigated and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
He further criticized the BJP, stating that despite being in power for the last ten years, the party has failed to deliver expected improvements in the economy and employment. He accused the BJP of indulging in caste and religion-based politics and said that people will not be misled this time.
📊 Himachal Model Highlighted
Citing Himachal Pradesh as an example, Sukhu said that under the Congress government, the state’s per capita income has risen to ₹2.83 lakh, which is about ₹64,000 higher than the national average.
He added that up to 125 units of free electricity are being provided, and extremely poor families will receive up to 300 units free. Despite financial constraints, the government is working towards self-reliance through fiscal discipline.
🌾 Focus on Welfare and Agriculture
The Chief Minister said that education and healthcare services are improving rapidly in Himachal Pradesh, along with progress in the tourism sector.
He also mentioned that orphaned children have been declared “Children of the State,” and the Old Pension Scheme has been restored for government employees.
In agriculture, the government has increased MSP for naturally grown crops such as wheat, maize, barley, and turmeric. Ginger has been brought under MSP for the first time. Milk procurement prices have also been raised to ₹61 per litre for cow milk and ₹71 per litre for buffalo milk.
