Modi Government Giving New Direction to Tribal Pride, Identity and Development — MP Suresh Kashyap Pays Tribute to Birsa Munda

Shimla: - BJP leader and Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap attended a national program on “Tribal Identity and Governance” organized by Himachal Pradesh National Law University Shimla as the chief guest. On the occasion, he spoke in detail about the rights, cultural heritage, and holistic development of tribal communities, highlighting several initiatives of the central government.

In his address, Kashyap paid rich tributes to the महान tribal leader Birsa Munda, stating that his struggle and sacrifice continue to inspire tribal communities to fight for dignity and rights. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has given national recognition to tribal heroes and declared November 15 as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, which has been celebrated nationwide since 2021.

He further stated that the elevation of Droupadi Murmu to the highest constitutional office of the country is a matter of immense pride for tribal communities and reflects equal opportunity and respect for all sections of society in modern India.

Kashyap emphasized that the government has transformed tribal communities from mere beneficiaries into active participants in the development process. He noted that a special package of around ₹24,000 crore has been allocated for tribal regions, focusing on roads, mobile connectivity, healthcare, and education.

Highlighting progress in education, he mentioned the Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), under which more than 740 schools are being established across the country, benefiting over 3.5 lakh tribal students with free, quality residential education. He added that students from remote areas are now succeeding in competitive exams like IIT and NEET.

For economic empowerment, Van Dhan Vikas Kendras have been set up, connecting over one million tribal families. Additionally, Minimum Support Price (MSP) for minor forest produce such as bamboo, honey, and tendu leaves has significantly increased their incomes.

In the health sector, the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana provides free treatment up to ₹5 lakh. Mobile medical units, telemedicine services, and nutrition campaigns are extending healthcare access to the remotest areas.

He also highlighted the expansion of basic infrastructure through schemes like Jal Jeevan Mission and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, ensuring tap water and permanent housing for tribal households. Digital connectivity has improved under the Digital India initiative, while projects like the Atal Tunnel have revolutionized connectivity in remote regions.

Kashyap made special mention of the PM-JANMAN Scheme, describing it as a landmark initiative aimed at the most vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs), ensuring that development reaches the last mile.

He added that the government is also promoting tribal culture and heritage through initiatives like Aadi Mahotsav and the establishment of Tribal Freedom Fighters Museums, giving national and international recognition to tribal art and traditions.

Several dignitaries, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Preet Saxena, Prof. Dr. Harish Kumar, Registrar Alok Kumar, and others, were present at the event. BJP leaders and party workers also attended the program.

Concluding his address, Suresh Kashyap congratulated the university for organizing the event and said that such platforms play a crucial role in fostering meaningful dialogue on tribal issues and shaping more effective policies for the future.
