Shimla | HP Government Delays 'Honor Payments' to Soldiers' Families and Heroes

Updated on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 16:31 PM IST

Spokesperson of the BJP, Rajinder Rana launched a scathing attack on the State Government for ignoring the interest of the families of the Indian soldiers who died in action. He said that Himachal Pradesh Government has shown the least interest for the welfare of Veer Naris (war widows) The Government's policy to honor the services and sacrifices of our Armed Forces seems to be in shambles.

He said that for the last two years, there has been definite delay in giving the approved payments or annuities to Veer Naris (war widows) and families of soldiers. Even last year, the grants were released only after repeated requests and much after the due date. It is pathetic that even the families of soldiers have to beg for their due benefits and their legitimate right.
Rana said that this year too, the State Government has not released the amounts to Veer Naris, families of soldiers killed in action, and winners of gallantry or distinguished awards.

Despite sincere efforts by the District Sainik Board and Sainik Boards (DSSABs), the payments remain still pending.

He said that a soldier gives his life for the country trusting that his family and sacrifice will be cared for by the government. But the careless attitude of concerned officials has once again denied even this basic respect to our soldiers and their sacrifices. He emphasized that the State Government must immediately release the pending grants to the DSSABs, to provide relief to the families of soldiers.
