India Makes a Big Leap in the Space Sector Under Modi Government: Anurag Singh Thakur

Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, today addressed students at PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Pekhubela, Una, Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of National Space Day, shedding light on India's growing strides in the space sector.

Anurag Singh Thakur said, "Under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, India has made a big leap in the space sector. On this very day in the year 2023, our country India achieved success in the Chandrayaan Mission 3, and on this day, India became the fourth country to land on the Moon and the first country to land near the Moon's southern pole, joining the group of leading space nations. This is the result of the tireless hard work of our great and diligent scientists. Behind those scientists, Modi Ji stands firmly as a visionary leader who embraces the scientists during mission failures and pats their backs on successes. In 2014, Modi Ji's government decided to unlock the lock on India's space sector, and today, the world is talking about India's space economy. In the next few years, India's space economy is set to grow from 8 billion dollars to 44 billion dollars, whereas in 2013-14, India's space budget was ₹5,615 crore, which has now increased to ₹13,416 crore."

Anurag Singh Thakur said, "Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla recently became part of the Axiom-4 mission and embarked on a space journey. He is the second Indian to do so, but the first Indian to go to the International Space Station. In the coming decades, India will need at least forty to fifty astronauts for its space missions.

In the last ten years, India has done a lot of work in the space sector. Under Modi Ji's leadership, our solar mission Aditya L1 was launched. Earlier, we had to seek help from foreign countries to launch our satellites, but now foreign nations seek help from us. Our scientists have built the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, with whose help ISRO has successfully launched 400 foreign satellites so far. India launched 104 satellites together in one flight, and we launched the first private rocket Vikram S, creating a new record. Last year, India successfully completed the space docking experiment.

We have started testing the Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV). Modi Ji's government has approved a budget of ₹20,193 crore for the Gaganyaan project. Our goal is to establish the Indian Space Station by 2035 and achieve the target of an Indian crewed lunar landing by the year 2040."
