Dharamshala: As part of efforts to strengthen nutritional support for tuberculosis (TB) patients in Kangra district, the Ayush Department provided 15 nutrition kits to TB patients in the Shahpur area. District Health Officer Dr. R.K. Sood expressed gratitude to the District Ayush Officer for the initiative, stressing that nutritious food, along with timely treatment, plays an important role in the recovery of TB patients.
A special district-level monthly review meeting was held under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme to assess the progress of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0 and discuss the action plan for the coming period.

Chief Medical Officer, Kangra, Dr. Omesh Bharti said sustained efforts were being made to eliminate TB in the district. He appreciated the health blocks and teams performing well and directed other blocks to improve their performance.

Kangra achieved 99 percent of its TB notification target in 2026, while presumptive TB testing reached 97 percent. Health blocks including Indora, Thural, Dadasiba, Nagrota Surian and Shahpur performed at or above their prescribed targets.

Under TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, 62,585 vulnerable individuals and new episodes have been enrolled so far, with 46,136 people undergoing X-ray examinations. The district has identified 969 high-risk villages, with Ayushman Arogya Camps being conducted to connect vulnerable populations with healthcare services.

The district’s treatment success rate currently stands at 83 percent, with officials aiming to raise it above 90 percent through regular follow-up and continuous monitoring.

The meeting also reviewed differentiated TB care, ABHA ID and face authentication, Aadhaar details under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana and Nikshay Mitra nutritional support. Of 1,729 TB patients, 1,304 have completed ABHA and face authentication, while 95 percent of consenting patients under the Nikshay Mitra initiative have received nutritional support or food baskets.

Focus on TB Mukt Bharat App
A key focus of the meeting was the effective use of the TB Mukt Bharat App. Officials and NTEP staff were directed to regularly use the app for planning, monitoring and reporting campaign activities. Participants also received hands-on practical training to improve field-level documentation and real-time monitoring.

Dr. Bharti said effective use of digital platforms would make the TB elimination programme more transparent, efficient and results-oriented. He directed teams to complete pending tasks within stipulated timelines, expand X-ray and NAAT testing, ensure coverage of high-risk villages and strengthen patient-centred services.

He expressed confidence that coordinated efforts by healthcare teams, public representatives, communities, Nikshay Mitras and partner organisations would help Kangra move closer to the goal of “TB will lose, the nation will win.”
