Palampur, July 1: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is widely recognized for his simple lifestyle and compassionate approach to governance. Having risen from a humble background to the state's highest office, he has a deep understanding of the struggles, challenges, and needs of ordinary people. His governance model is centered on systemic reforms with a strong focus on the welfare of the last person in society.

As Chief Minister, Sukhu has consistently prioritized the upliftment of the poor, marginalized communities, and residents of remote and inaccessible regions. Rather than governing solely through official files, he regularly interacts with people on the ground, listens to their concerns, and responds to their needs. Whether during natural disasters or in normal circumstances, he has repeatedly demonstrated sensitivity by extending timely assistance to people living in rural and far-flung areas.

On several occasions, the Chief Minister has ordered helicopter rescue operations for critically ill patients stranded in remote regions, ensuring they receive advanced medical treatment at the state's premier healthcare institutions.

One such case was that of Kapuri Devi, a resident of the highly inaccessible Bara Bhangal region. When she became critically ill in 2024, Chief Minister Sukhu directed the administration to airlift her by helicopter and admit her to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, where she received timely treatment.

Expressing her gratitude, Kapuri Devi said the doctors treated her "as if she were the Chief Minister's own mother." She recalled that after being airlifted to Tanda, she lost consciousness and remained unaware of the treatment process. The state government ensured that she received the best possible medical care, and today she has made a full recovery.

Thanking the Chief Minister for giving her a new lease of life, Kapuri Devi said that had the government not arranged the helicopter evacuation in time, her life could have been in serious danger. She credited the Chief Minister's compassionate and prompt intervention with saving her life.
