Congress Consolidates Position in Jawalamukhi as New Council Leadership Elected
Jawalamukhi, June 16 : The formation of the new leadership team in the Jawalamukhi Municipal Council has reaffirmed the Congress party’s strong position in local politics, with Som Kiran Sharma unanimously elected as President and Deepti Sood as Vice-President. The unopposed election to both key posts reflects not only the party’s numerical strength but also the unity among its elected representatives.
Following its convincing performance in the recent municipal elections, where Congress secured seven of the nine council seats, the party has successfully translated its electoral mandate into administrative leadership. Political observers view the development as a significant consolidation of Congress influence in the region.
The smooth and unanimous selection process highlighted the coordination among Congress councillors, leaving no room for a contest for either position. Party leaders have described the outcome as a reflection of public confidence in Congress and its development-oriented agenda.
Much of the credit for the party’s success is being attributed to local MLA Sanjay Rattan, whose active engagement during the election campaign helped strengthen the party's grassroots presence across the municipal wards.
Expressing her gratitude after being elected, President Som Kiran Sharma thanked the residents of Jawalamukhi, fellow councillors, and MLA Sanjay Rattan for their trust and support.
“This responsibility is a matter of great honour. I am grateful to everyone who has placed their confidence in me. With the guidance of MLA Sanjay Rattan and the cooperation of all councillors, we will work collectively to ensure transparency, better civic services, cleanliness, and sustainable development for Jawalamukhi,” she said.
Vice-President Deepti Sood also pledged to work closely with the council and local residents to address civic concerns and improve public services.
With the new leadership now in place, expectations are high that the Municipal Council will focus on strengthening infrastructure, improving sanitation, enhancing public amenities, and accelerating development initiatives across the town.
