Updated on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 07:32 AM IST

Ward No. 5 of the Municipal Council has seen development works worth approximately ₹1.22 crore over the last five years. The initiatives have primarily focused on strengthening basic infrastructure, improving drainage systems, and enhancing public amenities.

Most roads in the ward have been upgraded with tiled surfaces, while street lighting has also been improved. Construction of proper drainage channels, along with repair and maintenance of retaining structures and traditional water sources, has been carried out on a priority basis.

The long-neglected Ghallon pond in the area is currently undergoing restoration and beautification. The work includes installation of Kota stone flooring, tiling of walls and steps, and the addition of steel railings. Painting and finishing work are in the final stages, transforming the site into a cleaner and more accessible public space.

Additionally, a water cooler has been installed near Gopi Kuthiala Sarai along the main road, benefiting commuters, school children, and local shopkeepers.

A few minor works in the ward are still pending and are expected to be completed in a phased manner.

Meanwhile, political activity has intensified in the ward ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. Neeraj Sharma is set to contest from Ward No. 5, making the contest in the area increasingly competitive.
