Dharamshala, April 8: - In a significant development for Kangra district, the Northern Railway’s construction wing will conduct a joint inspection of proposed Low Height Subway (LHS) sites on April 10 and 11, 2026, in coordination with the local administration. The Chief Administrative Officer/Construction (Road Safety Project) has officially informed the Deputy Commissioner of Kangra through a formal communication.
The move is being seen as a result of sustained efforts by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Dehra MLA Kamlesh Thakur. The issue had been consistently raised with the Central Government and the Ministry of Railways through the Chief Minister, highlighting the long-standing difficulties faced by residents.
People in areas such as Bariyal, Nandpur, Khabbal, and Ludret have been facing serious inconvenience for years due to railway crossings. Responding to these concerns, the Railways has proposed construction of Low Height Subways (LHS) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) at multiple locations along the Pathankot–Joginder Nagar (PTK-JDNX) railway section.
📍 Proposed Locations:
Bariyal village (Km 65/9–10)
Nandpur village (Km 68/3–4)
Khabbal village (Km 63/7–8)
Ludret village (Km 67/5–6)
The underpasses are planned using RCC box technology to ensure safe and smooth movement for local residents.
The joint inspection aims to assess the feasibility of construction at these sites. Officials from the Revenue Department, Public Works Department (PWD), and other state agencies have been directed to be present with necessary documents to complete land demarcation (Right of Way) and related formalities.
As per the communication, coordination between Railway and state departments will be handled by Kamal Kishore, SSE/C/RSP, ensuring smooth execution of the process.
